The quickest, cleanest way to get rid of a stump is to grind it.  A small machine with carbide tipped teeth on a spinning disc can quickly reduce a massive tree stump to a small pile of dirt and wood chips. Our small, yet powerful, self propelled stump grinders can fit through small 36” gates and are very turf friendly. Stumps and surface roots are generally ground 6-8” below the surface. Deeper grinding is optional to allow for future replanting or excavation.

The remaining portion of the stump is covered and left to naturally decompose returning nutrients to the surrounding soil.  We can either leave the chips and dirt for you to clean up or remove them and fill the hole with fresh, screened and pulverized topsoil. Filling the hole with stump grindings is not recommended and will not support new grass. A sunken bald spot will almost always result.  We can also spread grass seed and straw or place new sod over the hole.  In just a couple hours you won’t be able to see a tree was ever there!
